[ Word travels fast around the office. By the time Grell had returned from her shift to submit the appropriate paperwork, a secretary had already asked her if she'd been by to check on Mister Spears.
Now, she had known that he had been sent on an investigative mission with Ronald earlier that day, so she immediately assumed the worst. Demanding to know where to find them sent her bolting off to the lower levels. The new recruits were smart enough to dash out of the way - and some of them even directed her to the appropriate department; the optometrist's office, where she found William sulking in the lobby.
The poor man was without his glasses, but aside from a scuffed cheek and some healing bruises, appeared to be in one piece. It was his pride that seemed wounded, as the very air about him seemed heavy. ]
Oh, Will.
[ Heaving a sigh of relief, she sinks down into the chair beside him. Though knowing fully well that he won't like it, she won't be kept from fussing over him; reaching out to gingerly dash back some of his hair left mussed by his scuffle, while taking a good look at his wounds. ]
What did I tell you about taking care of your glasses, mm?

Without even trying to find your old glasses, first? Come now, Will.
[ And while she will zap them out of there, she'll first be threading her fingers into his. ]
no subject
I have little faith we will find them, as I've said.
no subject
Perhaps with the slightest bit of spite, she holds on for a good moment or two before allowing William to effectively shake her off. ]
Well. I don't. [ Hands back on her hips, the redhead stubbornly cocks a hip. ] So, where would be the best place to start?
no subject
One of the closets, I suppose.
[ There's a coat closet just as you enter the place. Another in the bathroom for linens, and a third, larger one in his bedroom. ]
no subject
[ While her eyes follow his, Grell is able to see one of those, at least. ]
Oh, now that would be good spot.
[ The coat closet. William seems to be a minimalist, at best - and doesn't seem the sort to keep company overnight. It would have to be the least used closet, and thus, the most likely for storing forgotten treasures!
Shrugging off her coat, the redheaded reaper drapes it over the back of his couch, on her way to open it up. She's ready to dig! ]
no subject
Considering how adamant William is about keeping his glasses safe, you would think he'd treat his old one's with care, as well. ]
Honestly, I'm not even certain what I've stored away in there.
no subject
Then this may be more fun than I anticipated! [ Grell declares as she sets it down on the floor - followed by the other two. Kneeling between them, she tugs off their lids! ]
no subject
The boxes end up housing things you would expect to find in a coat closet. Winter accessories such as scarves, hats and an old umbrella.
But the last looks more promising. In it are a couple texts that should be recognized as the ones they were expected to study while at the academy. One folder contains a few written assignments, showing off William's impressive calligraphy. And settled atop it all, is his original death scythe.]
Anything?
no subject
It's your belongings from Academy! [ And with one hand, Grell fingers through the pages to see if there's anything noteworthy there, despite being entirely unrelated to their search. ] How strange, I'd think to find them in here... Goodness, I even attracted to your handwriting...
no subject
[ Unsurprising considering how long ago it was. But having crouched down in front of Grell, he can somewhat hear her last comment. There's a sudden smack to her head (which somehow doesn't miss!) ]
Will you stay focused.
no subject
Oh, fine.
[ Delicately replacing the scythe in its box, she then closes it up - such will hopefully prevent her from becoming distracted by it again.
On she moves to the others. Rummaging under the garments and accessories, she hums - but it doesn't sound good. ]
Nothing...
[ Shifting onto her knees, she leans back into the closet, checking underneath the coats to see if she might find anything more there. If not, it would be time to replace everything and move on! ]
no subject
I can't imagine why I'd store them in the bathroom, but I suppose we can check the linen closet next.
no subject
[ Hooking a finger into the end of William's sleeve, she tugs him along behind her! Considering that the apartments are a bit cookie cutter, the bathroom is easy enough to find.
While she tries to be subtle about looking around before opening up the closet, she doesn't do the best job at it. She's curious to know how he lives his personal life!! ]
no subject
While Grell's preoccupied, William tugs his hand away and moves to open the closet up. He knows the placement of all the towels and sheets, so it's easy enough to skip over those shelves as he tries to make out the rest. ]
no subject
Ah, but she's left him to struggle long enough. Returning to his side, she leans in to glance over his shoulder. ]
Nothing unexpected yet, mn?
no subject
[ He slides a few baskets around, which appear to have replacements for a few products, should they run lows. But aside from that, it's contents are fairly sparse. ]
no subject
Shall we move on to the bedroom storage?
no subject
The four poster bed is neatly made with deep blue comforter and pillows. On the nightstand is an old book, a folded handkerchief, likely to be used as a cushion for his current glasses while he slept, and bottle of laudanum, presumably for headaches or to be used as a sleep aid.
In the closet, countless pressed suits and dress shirts are found, along with two pairs of dress shoes. It seems any other garments must be kept in the dressers.
Unable to help much, William takes a seat on the bed. ]
no subject
Now, this is welcoming. I see why you spend most of your time here.
[ Her tone is teasing, as she crosses over to the closet - it isn't until then that she takes note of the contents on his nightstand. Very briefly, her step falters when she catches the label of his tincture. ]

[ It's true, his home is very devoid of decor. But, with how infrequently he's here, it makes little sense to decorate. It's saved him quite a bit of money, though. ]
no subject
It's fine. ]
It could use some artwork - and perhaps a few more candles - but it's otherwise the most inviting room of your home yet.
[ Shifting open the closet, Grell's teeth press into her bottom lip in excitement. It smells of him most, here. ]
no subject
[ Part of him almost wants to take some and head to sleep already. He's not quite as stressed as he was earlier in the day - Grell has somehow managed to calm him down, for once! But, the day has exhausted him, nonetheless.
For now, though, he simply watches where Grell is, hoping to hear some sort of indication of success. ]
no subject
Darling, a bed isn't necessary to welcome me into a room with you.
[ After pushing aside some hangers, just to be sure, she sighs in something of defeat. ]
Do you suppose they may be in a dresser? Do you have a junk drawer somewhere, perhaps?
no subject
[ He shakes his head at that first comment, but gets more of a perplexed look about him at the rest. ]
A junk drawer?
[ He's far to organized for that! And if she goes poking around in his dresser drawers, all she'll find is one full of neatly paired socks, another with his rather boring underwear, and the remainder with various non-work attire - items he hardly ever gets to wear. ]
no subject
[ She WILL help herself to those drawers, regardless. Thankfully, she doesn't touch his meticulously organized undergarments, as they're disappointingly - but expectedly - rather dull. Surprisingly, she's most interested in seeing what he wears of his own vocation, idly shifting through the garments. ]
Well, darling, it seems that luck hasn't been on your side today.
