[ Word travels fast around the office. By the time Grell had returned from her shift to submit the appropriate paperwork, a secretary had already asked her if she'd been by to check on Mister Spears.
Now, she had known that he had been sent on an investigative mission with Ronald earlier that day, so she immediately assumed the worst. Demanding to know where to find them sent her bolting off to the lower levels. The new recruits were smart enough to dash out of the way - and some of them even directed her to the appropriate department; the optometrist's office, where she found William sulking in the lobby.
The poor man was without his glasses, but aside from a scuffed cheek and some healing bruises, appeared to be in one piece. It was his pride that seemed wounded, as the very air about him seemed heavy. ]
Oh, Will.
[ Heaving a sigh of relief, she sinks down into the chair beside him. Though knowing fully well that he won't like it, she won't be kept from fussing over him; reaching out to gingerly dash back some of his hair left mussed by his scuffle, while taking a good look at his wounds. ]
What did I tell you about taking care of your glasses, mm?

I can't imagine why I'd store them in the bathroom, but I suppose we can check the linen closet next.

[ Hooking a finger into the end of William's sleeve, she tugs him along behind her! Considering that the apartments are a bit cookie cutter, the bathroom is easy enough to find.
While she tries to be subtle about looking around before opening up the closet, she doesn't do the best job at it. She's curious to know how he lives his personal life!! ]
no subject
While Grell's preoccupied, William tugs his hand away and moves to open the closet up. He knows the placement of all the towels and sheets, so it's easy enough to skip over those shelves as he tries to make out the rest. ]
no subject
Ah, but she's left him to struggle long enough. Returning to his side, she leans in to glance over his shoulder. ]
Nothing unexpected yet, mn?

[ He slides a few baskets around, which appear to have replacements for a few products, should they run lows. But aside from that, it's contents are fairly sparse. ]
no subject
Shall we move on to the bedroom storage?

The four poster bed is neatly made with deep blue comforter and pillows. On the nightstand is an old book, a folded handkerchief, likely to be used as a cushion for his current glasses while he slept, and bottle of laudanum, presumably for headaches or to be used as a sleep aid.
In the closet, countless pressed suits and dress shirts are found, along with two pairs of dress shoes. It seems any other garments must be kept in the dressers.
Unable to help much, William takes a seat on the bed. ]
no subject
Now, this is welcoming. I see why you spend most of your time here.
[ Her tone is teasing, as she crosses over to the closet - it isn't until then that she takes note of the contents on his nightstand. Very briefly, her step falters when she catches the label of his tincture. ]

[ It's true, his home is very devoid of decor. But, with how infrequently he's here, it makes little sense to decorate. It's saved him quite a bit of money, though. ]
no subject
It's fine. ]
It could use some artwork - and perhaps a few more candles - but it's otherwise the most inviting room of your home yet.
[ Shifting open the closet, Grell's teeth press into her bottom lip in excitement. It smells of him most, here. ]

[ Part of him almost wants to take some and head to sleep already. He's not quite as stressed as he was earlier in the day - Grell has somehow managed to calm him down, for once! But, the day has exhausted him, nonetheless.
For now, though, he simply watches where Grell is, hoping to hear some sort of indication of success. ]

Darling, a bed isn't necessary to welcome me into a room with you.
[ After pushing aside some hangers, just to be sure, she sighs in something of defeat. ]
Do you suppose they may be in a dresser? Do you have a junk drawer somewhere, perhaps?
no subject
[ He shakes his head at that first comment, but gets more of a perplexed look about him at the rest. ]
A junk drawer?
[ He's far to organized for that! And if she goes poking around in his dresser drawers, all she'll find is one full of neatly paired socks, another with his rather boring underwear, and the remainder with various non-work attire - items he hardly ever gets to wear. ]
no subject
[ She WILL help herself to those drawers, regardless. Thankfully, she doesn't touch his meticulously organized undergarments, as they're disappointingly - but expectedly - rather dull. Surprisingly, she's most interested in seeing what he wears of his own vocation, idly shifting through the garments. ]
Well, darling, it seems that luck hasn't been on your side today.
no subject
[ Though, he was secretly hoping he was wrong. ]
Even so, I doubt they would have done much good. My eyesight has worsened each year since academy. Honestly, how you can function while peering over yours all the time is a wonder.
no subject
It's about more than seeing, really. It offers you more skill in combat!
[ Approaching William, she brushes a hand along his shoulder. ]
Though, it's understandable, I suppose. You've been so focused on other matters, since the promotion.
no subject
[ His shoulders re-tense at the touch, having relaxed ever so slightly. ]
Honestly, it is one of the main reasons I've kept you in Collections.
no subject
For that, I am grateful. I should think that I'll never be suited for anything else.
no subject
[ Actually, he can imagine it. Quite well. They'd probably be calling him in to take care of the matter. Goodness knows he's the only one who can control Grell. ]
no subject
I realize I'm not the most agreeable when bored.
[ also, is he actually allowing her to hang off of him while seated upon his bed? Quite the shock! ]
no subject
That is quite an understatement. [ He sighs. ] I will need you to submit a sick leave form for me, tomorrow. Do you think that will be too much of a bore for you to complete?
no subject
I cant say that I'm ever excited for paperwork, but I might be able to manage... Will they allow it?
no subject
no subject
A chance to visit again, Will? How positively inconvenient for me.
[ She can't help it; she nuzzles his cheek affectionately! ]
no subject
Stop.
[ William wipes at his cheek with the back of his other hand, as if it will undo her touch. ]
