[ Word travels fast around the office. By the time Grell had returned from her shift to submit the appropriate paperwork, a secretary had already asked her if she'd been by to check on Mister Spears.
Now, she had known that he had been sent on an investigative mission with Ronald earlier that day, so she immediately assumed the worst. Demanding to know where to find them sent her bolting off to the lower levels. The new recruits were smart enough to dash out of the way - and some of them even directed her to the appropriate department; the optometrist's office, where she found William sulking in the lobby.
The poor man was without his glasses, but aside from a scuffed cheek and some healing bruises, appeared to be in one piece. It was his pride that seemed wounded, as the very air about him seemed heavy. ]
Oh, Will.
[ Heaving a sigh of relief, she sinks down into the chair beside him. Though knowing fully well that he won't like it, she won't be kept from fussing over him; reaching out to gingerly dash back some of his hair left mussed by his scuffle, while taking a good look at his wounds. ]
What did I tell you about taking care of your glasses, mm?

[ He allows Grell's hand to remain there, using the other to take another bite of food. ]
That being said, I believe our schedule has us both off next Thursday. There weren't many deaths that day to require more than one reaper on duty. We can spend some time together then, if you'd like.
no subject
Really♥? Will, I would love that! [ It's fairly obvious that she's just wiggling her shoulders to and fro, now. ] It's a deal.
[ Giving that wrist a pat, she finally lets him off with a giggle. ]
Anyway, I think you'd be surprised how much time ladies take for themselves, too.

[ This is honestly the last thing he expected to come out of this whole ordeal. And, part of him expects that the future, of whatever this step in their relationship is, will have plenty of turbulence. But, that's something he's needed to work on. At least he's taking that first big step out of the hole he'd buried himself in. ]
Decide what you'd like to do before then. I doubt we can get seats at the opera this late, so that will have to wait.
no subject
Oh, we're going to have so much fun! I can't wait♥!
[ Okay! Okay. A deep breath. ]
Goodness, I've been so giddy that I've barely touched my food... [ She'll poke at her potatoes with a dinner roll in hopes that it isn't cold by now! ]
no subject
Eat up, then. I'm nearly finished. ...I think, at least.
[ He's eaten quite a bit, and his fork seems to find quite a bit of empty space on his plate when it goes in for more. Either way, Grell had gotten back to his place fairly late - what with late shifts and having to gather food and necessities before she arrived. And despite a rather uneventful day, William was starting to feel a bit tired. It's even given away by the sudden yawn he lets out. ]
no subject
Oh, you aren't yet. Weren't you the one that had asked for dessert, silly?
[ Sliding his empty plate away, she replaces it with the cute little cake. ]
I ordered specifically for this. It is-- superb.
no subject
What did you choose?
[ As he presses his fork into it, he can tell it's some sort of cake. Soft and spongy, perhaps with a thin layer of frosting on top? ]
no subject
Just try it. [ She near whispers. Because the truth is, she's a fatty at heart and is elated that they can bond over food like this... ]
no subject
Tiramisu.
[ The calm tone of his voice should make that very apparent! ]
no subject
[ But sensing his satisfaction is all she really needs! Content enough to return to her own food, even, so that she may hurry along to HER dessert. ]
What are your favorite foods, by the way? I don't believe I've ever asked.
no subject
[ He partakes in a few more bites. ]
Chocolate biscuits are my favorite desert. Humphries used to bring me his homemade ones on occasion. [ Alas, no more. ] I am also quite partial to seafood.
no subject
Ah, chocolate biscuits. You're a man of simple pleasures, mm? [ A snerk. ]
no subject
[ Is he gonna have to defend his beloved cookies! ]
no subject
[ She remarks simply, in between bites! There's no detectable sarcasm, either! ]
no subject
[ That comes with a defeated sigh. He knows Grell's here to stay, no matter what happens. ]
no subject
That's a fair assessment, mmhm♥.
[ Ah, at last, she can set aside her dinner plate to go in for dessert! With her tongue hooked over a pointed tooth, she tugs her box closer. ]
no subject
What about you, then? What would you prefer I cook, if I'm aiming to share with you?
no subject
I would say... pasta, accompanied by alfredo sauce!
[ A hand to her cheek, she's just batting her lashes at him, positively smitten. ]
Offering something like that... you're the sweetest, Will.
no subject
[ He huffs, apparently not liking to be called sweet over something he wasn't intending to be sweet. ]
no subject
[ Grell's nodded decidedly, as she finally scoops some cake up with her fork. ]
I can't say that anyone's cooked for me before, specifically.
no subject
[ He seems to find this odd. ]
I would think someone must have done so, since you've obviously never learned, yourself.
no subject
If I had, I might've someone to teach me. Alas!
no subject
[ William looks down to his plate, where he's not finding much more to poke at. Goodness he really ate that fast! ]
I'm hesitant to offer, as I'd like my flat to remain standing.
no subject
[ Noting that he's looking down at his empty plates rather sadly, she has to press a knuckle to her lips to keep herself from giggling. ]
Would you like some more wine, darling?
no subject
[ Carefully grasping the glass by its stem, he lifts it for Grell to refill. ]
If it's of little interest to you, then I won't think more on it.
[ Once filled, he takes a healthy sip. He doubts the alcohol will do much with all this tasty food in his tummy now! ]
